Etna, Giardini Naxos, Taormina & Castelmola Tour

We will reach the southern part of Etna at 6000 ft. altitude crossing small local towns, we will visit Naxos, Taormina and Castelmola with panoramic stops.

Etna Volcano: Still active it is one of the most famous volcanoes in the world, as well as the largest and most active volcano in Europe. Etna was born from submarine eruptions, at the foot of the Acicastello castle about 600,000 years ago where the Piana di Catania would later be formed.
After the pick-up at your accommodation, you will move by car to reach the Sapienza Refuge (1920 s.l.m.), making stops at certain observation points during the journey. A few steps from the square of the Sapienza Refuge are the Silvestri Craters, one of the main attractions of Etna. We continue our tour traveling towards the south-east side of the volcano thus arriving in Zafferana, called 'City of honey' where on request it is possible to taste different types of honey in a typical local cellar.
We thus arrive in Giardini Naxos, the first Greek colony in Sicily, we will cross the entire seafront and then climb the Taormina Hill taking a break in the Piazza del Belvedere in Taormina to admire the breathtaking view from the Catanese Coast to the Valle D'Agrò.
Along the main street of the town, Corso Umberto closed downstream from Porta Messina and upstream from Porta Catania, you will admire the most important monuments: Palazzo Corvaja; Ancient theater; Piazza IX Aprile; Clock tower; The Cathedral (Duomo) and much more. It will also be possible to go shopping in the exclusive shops that alternate with characteristic artisan shops.
Continuing towards Castelmola we will first stop at Piazza della Rocca, where you can enjoy an excellent overview of Taormina and visit the Church built inside a cave in 1640 by Archbishop Raineri, known for the co-patroness of Taormina after San Prancazio.
Arrived at the top of Castelmola you can enjoy an enchanting view, and admire the remains of a Norman castle of the twelfth century. Finally, a short walk along the picturesque medieval streets that will lead us to the Duomo, surrounded by artisan shops and bars where it will be possible to taste the famous 'Almond wine' produced since the early twentieth century.
